Eligibility
EDUCATION BENEFIT APPLICATION TIPS
If you have never applied for education benefits from the VA you will need to:
- Apply online by visiting the VA website at www.va.gov and choose Apply for Education Benefits – Complete VA form 22-1990.
- Once your application is approved you will receive a Certificate of Eligibility. You must submit a copy of the Certificate of Eligibility to Tiffin University’s Office of Veteran & Military Services in order for the Certifying Official to certify enrollment with the VA.
If you are a transferring student using VA education benefits, or a student who has changed your major/program since the last semester in which you received benefits, you will need to:
- Visit the VA website at www.va.gov and choose Change Current Education Benefits
- Under How do I request changes to my benefits? – click on Complete VA form 22-1995
Dependents/spouse who are receiving transferred benefits should:
- Visit the VA website at www.va.gov and complete VA form 22-1990E which allows the family member to access the transferred benefit. VA will send a Certificate of Eligibility once the application is approved. Please submit a copy of the Certificate of Eligibility to Tiffin University’s Office of Veteran & Military Services in order for the Certifying Official to certify enrollment with the VA.
Students who are eligible for Dependents Education Assistance (DEA) should:
- Visit the VA website at www.va.gov and complete VA form 22-5490. Upon benefit approval the dependent will receive a Certificate of Eligibility outlining the benefit.
- Please submit a copy of the Certificate of Eligibility to Tiffin University’s Office of Veteran & Military Services in order for the Certifying Official to verify enrollment with the VA.
Students who are using Chapter 31 – Vocational Rehabilitation:
- The VA Case Manager will submit program approval documentation to the Tiffin University School Certifying Official.
- School Certifying Official will certify enrollment through VA and set up billing to the appropriate VA Regional Processing Office.

Tiffin University participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program which is a provision of the Post 9/11 GI Bill® providing additional funds for tuition and fees exceeding the amount payable by the VA. (Eligibility requirements established by the VA apply)
**Please notify the VA Certifying Official at Tiffin University once you have registered for classes each semester. If you make any changes to your schedule such as add/drop classes or withdraw entirely, you must notify the Certifying Official immediately at 419-448-3407 or email at tuveterans@370r.com
